Project Sathkara represents the inaugural charitable initiative of the Richmond College Group of 97 – Colombo Association, embodying our commitment to giving back to communities in need. Launched in 2024, this comprehensive educational support project aimed to uplift the learning environment and opportunities for students at Thalapalakanda Junior School, a rural institution located approximately 150 kilometers from Colombo in the Southern Province.
Our Vision
To create meaningful change in underprivileged educational institutions by providing essential resources, improving infrastructure, and fostering holistic development opportunities for students who need them most.
The School
Thalapalakanda Junior School serves approximately 120 students in the Deniyaya area, where access to quality educational materials and infrastructure remains limited. Our association identified this school as an ideal recipient for our first community project, connecting through trusted contacts to ensure genuine impact.
What We Achieved
Through the generous contributions of approximately 40 association members, their families, friends, and corporate partners, Project Sathkara successfully delivered.
Sathkara 2024 – Bloom with Confidence : A Motivation, Personal Hygiene and Grooming Workshop

The social service project titled “Sathkāra – Bloom with Confidence: Motivation, Personal Hygiene and Grooming Workshop” was successfully conducted on 22nd May 2025 at Viharamaha Devi Girls’ School, Colombo.
The programme was designed to empower schoolgirls from less privileged backgrounds by equipping them with essential life skills, positive motivation, and practical knowledge to support their personal development during a formative stage of life. The workshop comprised a structured motivational session together with an interactive presentation on personal hygiene and grooming, aimed at enhancing self-confidence, self-awareness, and social readiness.
The sessions were delivered by distinguished guest speakers, Mrs. Chathurika De Silva, Attorney-at-Law and Management Accountant, and Mrs. Nilakshi Nagahamulla, Professional Hairdresser and Beautician, who served as resource persons for the programme. Their expertise and engaging delivery provided valuable insights and practical guidance, while also inspiring the students to approach their future with confidence and purpose.
